13 UFO Sightings Reported in Newcastle Over Five Years
The UK database contains nearly 2,000 reports dating back to 2021, but none has been independently investigated.

The UFO Identified research group has built a public database of nearly 2,000 sightings across the UK, including 13 in and around Newcastle. The database collects reports rather than investigating them, and none of the sightings has been verified.
A new public database in the UK records 13 sightings in and around Newcastle over the past five years. The news site Chronicle Live reported on the database and published an interactive map that lets users search for reports near where they live.
Called the British UFO Database, it was created by the UFO Identified research group and contains nearly 2,000 sightings recorded across the UK between 2021 and 2026. The source does not say who belongs to the group, who funds it or whether its members have prior experience in the field. Sightings have also been reported elsewhere in northeast England, including around Durham and Sunderland.
The database collects reports; it does not investigate them. None of the sightings has been independently examined, and the database offers no explanation for any of them.
The Triangles
According to Chronicle Live, most reports from the UK describe spherical objects. But 164 describe dark, matte triangular objects that witnesses say moved silently at low altitude over neighborhoods, fields and coastlines before disappearing quickly. One sighting, reported on July 22, described a large black triangle with a red light at each corner. According to the source, the object hovered over Stratford in Greater Manchester for more than 30 minutes.
The source does not specify what the 13 reports from Newcastle describe or compare their number with the national average or reports from other areas. It is also unclear whether they share a pattern.
Reports From the United States
Chronicle Live notes similarities between some of the British reports and accounts from the United States. Following an order from Donald Trump, the Pentagon recently released newly declassified documents on unidentified aerial phenomena. One document describes an incident involving two federal agents stationed at a sensitive national security site in the United States in June 2026. According to the account, a matte-black triangle hovered silently high in the air, then plunged rapidly into a canyon without leaving an exhaust trail.
Ash Ellis, founder of UFO Identified, said: “There are thousands of people in the UK who have seen something they couldn’t explain, but these reports are hard to find once the initial interest fades. We wanted to build a serious, easy-to-use public archive that would keep the records accessible and let people search for patterns themselves.”
