There isn’t one single “UFO over Colorado.” The term refers to different reports from different places and years, and the available accounts do not establish that they share a cause. Colorado’s sightings include lights, unusual shapes, and objects that witnesses could not identify. [2]
One documented case involved a report near Colorado Springs in February 2022. A military service member described a motionless, silent, matte-white or off-white object with intersecting lines or ridges. [5] An AARO intelligence-community partner later assessed, with low confidence, that sunlight reflecting from snow-covered mountains may have illuminated the underside of low clouds; AARO’s file said the case remained unresolved as of June 2026. [4]
Other reports are quite different: in 1967, campers near Crestone described three fireballs crossing the valley, while a 2004 report described ten silver discs near Pikes Peak. [1][3] Those are eyewitness accounts, not proof of what the objects were. The reports leave the identity and cause of many Colorado sightings unknown; the Colorado Springs analysis offers a tentative explanation, not a settled answer. [1][2][3][4]
