A person returned home in the northeastern United States and pulled into the driveway. In the yard, below the tree line, they saw a bright light hovering in the air. They got out of the car and watched it, then went back to get their phone and record it.

Their partner came out to join them. As they both watched the light, a second red orb, identical to the first, appeared. The two orbs moved together, changing altitude and direction. The Second Light Appeared Above the First

The person described the first light as a bright red orb. At its center was a white spot, which the document described as resembling a sun. As the light moved up and to the side, the couple noticed the second orb hovering above it.

The two lights continued moving together above the trees. They changed altitude and direction, moving silently and smoothly. The FBI record describes them as flying together in formation, or as if they were connected.

The Lights Looked Like a Single Orb

As the orbs moved away from the yard and out of sight, one witness saw them merge into a single orb. Another possibility described in the record is that they came so close together that they looked like one light.

One of the couple filmed a video of the lights after they were already above the trees and moving away from the yard. That left a record of part of the sighting, but not its first moments: filming began after the orbs were already in the air.

What Remains Unknown
