Five soldiers saw a silent white object hovering over a mountain in Colorado. They looked away briefly to get a phone, but when they looked back, the object had vanished.
This is an FBI FD-302 interview record documenting an interview conducted via Microsoft Teams in March 2025 with a U.S. military service member about a February 2022 UAP sighting near Fort Carson, Colorado. The witness and four other soldiers from his unit reported seeing a motionless, silent, matte/off-white, non-metallic, 'bean-shaped' object hovering over a saddle in Cheyenne Mountain for approximately 3-5 minutes before it vanished. The object's surface was described as covered in intersecting lines or ridges forming an abstract polygon pattern. The five witnesses independently sketched the object afterward and found their drawings consistent; the witness stated he had been contacted by AARO in early 2024 but never interviewed by AARO at that time.
A U.S. military service member and four other soldiers from his unit observed a strange object hovering just over Cheyenne Mountain, in a low point or 'saddle' of the mountain, while walking toward the entrance of a building. The object was matte white or off-white, non-metallic, oval/'bean-shaped', horizontal with a curved indentation on the bottom, completely motionless, and silent. It was observed for about 3-5 minutes without changing position relative to the saddle, then vanished while the men momentarily looked away. None of the five had a phone to record it.
"described the object as being mat te white, or off-white in color and appearing non-metallic."
Why it matters: Firsthand description of the object's appearance
Page 1
"The object was completely motionless and no sound could be heard coming from it."
Why it matters: Key observational detail of silence and stillness
Page 1
"The object was covered in intersecting lines or ridges which formed an abstract polygon pattern which covered the entire object."
Why it matters: Distinctive surface-texture detail
Page 2
"about the size of 10% of the saddle of the mountains, or about the size of a pool cue at arms-length."
Why it matters: Specific angular size estimate
Page 2
"Each of them independently drew what they remembered the object to look like, and then they compared their drawings afterwards. All of the drawings were consistent in showing a horizontal, white, "bean-shaped" object with abstract lines crossing on it."
Why it matters: Multiple independent witness corroboration via sketches
Page 2
"stated he was contacted by AARO in early 2024 about their observation. He stated he provided a response, but that he was never interviewed by AARO or anyone else."
Why it matters: Documents a gap in prior AARO follow-up despite the witness being contacted

Likely reason: Personal privacy (names of interviewee and FBI agents)
Description of the specific building/location at Fort Carson the soldiers drove to is partially blanked
Likely reason: Location/operational detail
Reference to the interviewee's relationship to one of the four other soldiers (e.g. unit role) is blanked

FBI FD-302 (interview record). Incident February 2022 near Fort Carson / Cheyenne Mountain, Colorado Springs; FBI interview conducted March 2025. Manifest note states AARO has since conducted subsequent interviews. Names of interviewee and agents redacted. OCR is moderately degraded but the substantive narrative is clearly legible.
No. They went to get a phone, and by the time they returned, the object had disappeared.
No. They considered whether it might have been a balloon or a hot-air balloon, but they could not identify the object.
According to the FBI summary, a military agency contacted the soldier to continue investigating the incident. The soldier said he was not interviewed again.
Five soldiers got out of a vehicle and walked toward a building near Fort Carson, Colorado. Above Cheyenne Mountain, they spotted a white object that appeared to hover in a low dip between sections of the mountain.
The object did not move or make a sound. All five watched it for several minutes, but it disappeared just as they all looked away for a moment. They ran to get a phone to photograph it, but when they returned, it was gone.
The sighting took place on a workday in early February 2022. One of the soldiers told the FBI about it in an interview several years later.
The soldier described a horizontal object, white or nearly white, with a rounded indentation on its underside. It reminded him of a bean. Intersecting lines on its surface formed a pattern of shapes.
The soldiers pointed it out to one another. For three to five minutes, they watched as it stayed in the same position relative to the dip in the mountain. They heard no sound from it. The soldiers did not think it was being carried by the wind because its position relative to the mountain never changed.
None of the five had a phone. They all looked away together for a moment so one of them could return to the vehicle and get a device to take a picture.
When they looked back, the object had disappeared. They scanned the sky to the west but could not find it. Later, they met to discuss what they had seen. They considered whether it might have been a balloon or a hot-air balloon, and each drew the object separately from memory.
It is still unknown what the object was or how it disappeared. The soldiers could not identify it, and the possibilities they considered did not solve the mystery. According to the FBI summary, a military agency later contacted the soldier to continue investigating the incident; the soldier said he was not interviewed again.
They returned to the vehicle without a picture. Above the mountain, only the dip where they had seen the object remained.
