Project Grudge was a US Air Force program to investigate reports of unidentified flying objects (UFOs).
Project Grudge was a US Air Force program established to investigate UFO reports. It succeeded Project Sign, and its name was officially changed from Project Sign to Project Grudge on February 11, 1949. That same year, a technical report titled “Unidentified Flying Objects, Project Grudge” was also published.
The project's goal was to explain the reports. Later descriptions portray it as more skeptical or dismissive than Project Sign; this is a later characterization, not a fact about all its findings. According to the Air Force's historical record, the program was part of the US government's official UFO investigation.
The project officially concluded in December 1949, although some sources state it continued in a limited capacity until the end of 1951. It was followed by Project Blue Book. Later summaries claimed that no evidence of foreign technology was found in the reports; this claim is attributed to a later government report, not the original 1949 project.
