First contact with aliens in 2027? Every prediction, who said what, and how past forecasts did
Updated October 29, 2026
Short answer
No scientific or government body predicts contact with aliens in 2027. The date comes mainly from "Bashar," an entity Darryl Anka says he channels, and from a few people in the UFO world who say they've "heard" it. Every dated prediction of contact or disclosure so far, from 1954 to 2026, has the same record: none came true, and many simply moved to a new date.
Status: As of October 29, 2026: no prediction of contact or disclosure has come true. Polymarket puts the chance the US confirms aliens by the end of 2026 at about 4%; on Kalshi, confirmation by the end of 2027 trades around 15%.

Where "2027" comes from
Search "aliens 2027" and two sources dominate. The first is "Bashar," an entity the American Darryl Anka says has spoken through him since the 1980s. As early as 2018 Anka's organization released a session called "2027, The Contact Fulcrum," and in May 2025 it advertised an event called "2027: The Year Everything Changes," where Bashar would talk about "how it will look when extraterrestrials arrive in 2027, which is how the probabilities are set now."
The second is people in the UFO world who say they've heard the date. John Ramirez, presented as a former CIA officer, said on a podcast in February 2023: "I've heard 2027 in kind of an official capacity I can't reveal," and "the word got out within the government that they're showing up in 2027 and we better be prepared." He produced no document. The skeptic Mick West suspects the date really comes from the "Davidson window": US Admiral Philip Davidson's warning in March 2021 that China might try to take Taiwan within six years, that is, by 2027.
Bashar: a date that keeps moving
Bashar is the most detailed source for the date, so the track record matters. Anka himself said on Mayim Bialik's podcast in March 2026 that "probably in 2027, we will be introduced to, literally to extraterrestrials by an official report." But Bashar's dates have a history:
- October 1993: "By what you call October month of 1993 your entire planet will know that your world has been in contact with extraterrestrial civilization for quite some time." It didn't happen.
- 2005 to 2013: a contact window repeated in several 1990s sessions. It didn't happen.
- 2015 to 2017: in 2012 Bashar said it was "highly probable, more than 90%" that in those years "something will happen that will allow you to know that extraterrestrial life is a fact"; other sessions said 98%. It didn't happen.
- 2023: in December 2022 Anka's organization announced that "the window of open contact is about to begin!" The window "opened"; no contact followed.
- 2026: "the Year of Disclosure." The US has indeed released UFO files this year, but none of them confirms that aliens exist.
The whistleblowers: lots of "soon," no dates
The people who testified to Congress about UFOs use words like "soon" but almost never dates. Former Pentagon official Lue Elizondo titled his book Imminent (August 2024) and wrote in it: "I leave it up to you, the reader, to decide what imminent means to you." In November 2024 he testified that "the U.S. is in possession of UAP technologies, as are some of our adversaries." In a February 2026 interview with Glenn Beck, according to a published transcript, he said, "I've heard 2027. I also heard 2036," adding that to him it "seemed more anecdotal."
David Grusch has named no date. In July 2023 he testified that he had been told of a decades-long crash-retrieval program, and asked whether the government is in contact with aliens he said, "It is something I cannot discuss in a public setting." Steven Greer, who called for congressional hearings back in 2001, said in March 2025 that "disclosure is going to happen in the next year or two." And the documentary The Age of Disclosure (2025) gives no date either, only director Dan Farah's assurance that it is "only a matter of time" before a president tells the world we are not alone.
Haim Eshed, Baba Vanga and what was due in 2025 and 2026
Some predictions have already come due. In December 2020 Haim Eshed, the former head of Israel's defense space program, said "Trump was on the verge of revealing" contact with a "Galactic Federation." Trump revealed nothing in his first term, and in February 2026, while ordering UFO files released, he said, "I don't know if they're real or not."
Baba Vanga has been credited with an alien "spacecraft" in November 2026, but she was earlier credited with contact in 2023 and 2025, and there is no written source for any of it (full fact check). British ufologist Mark Christopher Lee claimed Trump would give a speech on aliens on July 8, 2026, the Roswell anniversary, and that his source would hold a press conference in Washington on May 1, 2026; none of it happened. And in July 2025 Avi Loeb wrote, in a paper he called "largely a pedagogical exercise," that 3I/ATLAS "could be technological, and possibly hostile," with an optimal approach to Earth in late November or early December 2025. The comet passed, radio searches found nothing, and by December 2025 Loeb himself called it "most likely natural."
Scientists make predictions too, and their dates move
Channelers aren't the only ones naming dates. But scientists' forecasts are almost always about simple life or a signal, not spaceships:
- Ellen Stofan, NASA chief scientist, 2015: "strong indications of life beyond Earth within a decade, and... definitive evidence within 20 to 30 years." The decade passed with only "potential" findings, like the Martian rock NASA presented in September 2025. The second part runs until 2035 to 2045.
- Seth Shostak, SETI Institute: in 2012, "2025, 2030 is about right"; in 2014, "within two dozen years"; in 2020, a bet of a cup of coffee that we'll find something "by 2036." The target moves forward in almost every interview.
- Nikku Madhusudhan, Cambridge, April 2025: on the gas DMS on the planet K2-18b, "we can confirm this signal within one to two years." The finding is disputed, and his window closes in spring 2027.
- Michio Kaku, 2021: "I think that in this century, we will make contact with an extraterrestrial civilization." He has until 2100.
The scoreboard: dated predictions that have come due
Some of the best-known dated predictions of contact or disclosure. Every one has reached its date:
- December 21, 1954: Dorothy Martin of the Chicago area announced a flood and rescue by saucers from the planet "Clarion." It didn't happen.
- December 17, 1996: Sheldan Nidle predicted a mass landing of 15 million "Galactic Federation" starships. It didn't happen.
- March 1997: the Heaven's Gate group saw comet Hale-Bopp as the "marker" for a craft to collect them. 39 members died in a mass suicide.
- May 2003, then December 2012: "Nibiru," a planet due to hit Earth according to Nancy Lieder, who said she received messages from aliens. According to NASA, when the first date passed it was simply moved to 2012.
- 2001: Steven Greer presented testimonies in Washington that he said "establish once and for all that we are not alone" and asked for hearings. None followed at the time.
- 2016: lobbyist Stephen Bassett said he was "85 per cent sure" Obama would announce aliens before leaving office. He didn't. Hillary Clinton promised to "get to the bottom of it" and lost the election.
- 2020: Trump "on the verge of revealing," according to Haim Eshed. He didn't.
- 2023 and 2025: contact with aliens according to "Baba Vanga prophecies." It didn't happen.
- Late 2025: 3I/ATLAS as a hostile probe, in Avi Loeb's scenario. It turned out to be a comet.
- May and July 2026: a "source" press conference and a Trump speech on aliens, according to Mark Christopher Lee. Neither happened. Meanwhile five monthly Polymarket contracts on "aliens confirmed" have closed, all resolved No.
What the prediction markets say
Prediction markets put real money on the question. On October 29, 2026, Polymarket's "Will the US confirm that aliens exist before 2027?" traded around 3.9%, down from a peak of about 20% in April, just before the UFO files began to come out. On Kalshi, the contract "before January 1, 2028," meaning by the end of 2027, traded around 15%. Both set a strict bar: a "definitive" statement by the president, a cabinet member or a federal agency that extraterrestrial life or technology exists.
A market price is not evidence. It reflects what traders think, and they react to rumors too. Every earlier yearly market, for 2023, 2024 and 2025, resolved No. Details are in our prediction markets guide, and what officials have actually said is in our tracker.
How to read a prediction before believing it
When a new prediction appears, four questions do most of the work:
- Is there a date and a test? "In 2027 something will shift" can't be proven wrong. "In 2027 the US government will officially announce aliens" can.
- Who decides it happened? A serious forecast defines success in advance. If every UFO file release counts as "disclosure," the forecast can never fail.
- What's the record? A window that has already moved three times will probably move again. Bashar himself presents his dates as readings of present energy that can change.
- What if it does happen? Even if next year brings a real discovery, that wouldn't prove the method worked, unless the prediction described in advance what actually happened. What a real discovery would likely look like is in how first contact would happen.
Questions and answers
Will aliens make contact in 2027?
There is no scientific basis for it. The date comes mainly from channeling (Bashar) and UFO-world rumor, and no space agency or government predicts anything of the kind. Every dated contact prediction so far has failed.
Who predicted aliens would arrive in 2027?
Mainly Darryl Anka, who says he channels an entity called Bashar and said in 2026 that "probably in 2027" we will be introduced to aliens through an official report. Former CIA officer John Ramirez said in 2023 he had "heard 2027"; Lue Elizondo says he has heard both 2027 and 2036.
What did Bashar predict for 2027?
That an official introduction to extraterrestrials would begin in 2027, starting with "hybrids." Before that the dates were 1993, 2005 to 2013, 2015 to 2017 and 2023, and none of them came true.
Did Lue Elizondo say disclosure will happen in 2027?
Not exactly. In a February 2026 interview he said he had heard "2027" and also "2036," and that it seemed "more anecdotal." In his book Imminent he leaves it to readers to decide what "imminent" means.
What are the odds the US confirms aliens by 2027?
On October 29, 2026, Polymarket traders put it at about 4% for the end of 2026, and Kalshi at about 15% for the end of 2027. Those are betting prices, not evidence.
Has any prediction of alien contact ever come true?
No. From Dorothy Martin's 1954 flood to the 15 million starships of 1996 and the Trump speech that was supposed to happen in July 2026, no date has brought contact.
