Color films shot in Tremonton showed bright, round objects that varied in luminosity. The Naval Photographic Interpretation Center determined they were not birds, balloons, or aircraft, but a panel that reviewed the case concluded they were likely seagulls reflecting sunlight.

An F-94C jet scrambled to intercept an unidentified aircraft, and the cockpit became extremely hot. The pilot ordered the radar operator to eject; the plane crashed into a car and two buildings, killing four people. Separately, residents reported a silver, balloon-like object over Utica.
