A round, white light approached from the northwest, slowed near the control tower, then ascended almost vertically to an altitude of approximately 20,000 feet and vanished. It was observed for about 25 seconds.

The first Titan I missile launch facility, located within a silo, was destroyed by an explosion during a simulated launch. No actual launches had been conducted from it, and it was subsequently removed from asset records.
