Just seconds before the Delta Pioneer E rocket's first stage was scheduled to shut down, a hydraulic system failure occurred. The rocket lost control and began to tumble. The second stage regained control after approximately 20 seconds and continued to fly in an anomalous state until it was destroyed 484 seconds after launch.
