A man and his wife were sitting on the porch of their home in Colorado Springs when he noticed something moving overhead, behind him. It was traveling away from them across the sky.
He described a dark or silver triangle that was almost transparent, surrounded by mist and distortions like ripples on water. Just before it vanished, one side rose almost vertically, but the triangle kept to the same course. The sighting lasted about four seconds. The couple didn’t have time to take a photo.
The man recounted the sighting to the FBI, which documented it in an interview. His wife saw the triangle, too. He was used to seeing planes and helicopters over his home, but couldn’t identify what had passed overhead.
He Noticed the Movement First
The triangle came from behind him, from the northeast, and traveled southwest, away from the couple. He noticed it moving before he could make out its shape. He said it looked as if it were passing through a layer of vapor, with thin waves inside it.
A blue-silver band of light appeared along the triangle’s rear edge. The man speculated that the light might be related to the way the object moved, but didn’t know what caused it. He said the object looked relatively small from where he stood, and triangular in shape.
A Sharp Move Without a Change in Course
The triangle traveled in a straight line at what appeared to be a steady altitude. It moved quickly, covering a great distance in the brief time the couple saw it. Just before he lost sight of it, its left side rose quickly, almost vertically.
Despite the sharp movement, the triangle didn’t change direction or altitude. It made no sound. The man felt no vibrations or other effects as it passed overhead. The object disappeared from view sooner than he expected, before he could take out his phone.
What Remains Unknown
