A military sensor tracks an area that stands out from its surroundings in tone. When the image is magnified, the area resolves into several separate spots. They move across the screen, then disappear beyond its edge.
The video shows the spots but doesn’t reveal what they are. Nor does it explain what makes them enter and leave the frame. The sensor captured something that looks clearer when magnified, yet remains unidentified.
One Spot Becomes Several
At the start of the video, the sensor tracks an area with a different tone. When the image is magnified, the area appears to consist of several separate patches. Zoom in further, and the spots become easier to see.
The sensor changes direction to keep them in frame. As it does, the spots move in and out of view. The video shows no clearly identifiable objects, only differences in tone.
The Spots Disappear at the Edge
The tracking continues for about a minute and a half. Then the spots leave the frame at the lower right. From that point on, the video shows no content.
A user uploaded the video to a classified computer network, one not open to the public, in May 2020. The user’s name was not disclosed. The official assessment says the video likely came from a sensor that displays heat differences, aboard a U.S. military aircraft.
What Remains Unknown
The title given to the video by the person who uploaded it mentions the Arabian Gulf. The official assessment, however, says only that the aircraft was operating in an area under the responsibility of U.S. Central Command. It does not confirm the precise location where the footage was recorded. The source offers no conventional explanation for what appears in the video, and it is unknown what the spots were or what made them look that way.
The video ends on a blank screen. The spots have vanished from view, and the footage doesn’t say where they went.
