For a minute and 20 seconds, the screen in a video from a military sensor stays blank. Then an area that looks different from its surroundings enters at the upper left, crosses the image, and disappears below the frame.
Later, another area appears, and the sensor changes direction to track it. As more marks appear and disappear, the camera keeps following the same area. The video shows this movement but does not explain what caused it.
Who Uploaded the Video?
A user uploaded the video to a classified network in August 2020, a system that is not open to the public. An American office called AARO (All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office) found it among materials collected as part of a review of records related to unexplained phenomena.
The office assessed that the video was probably recorded by an infrared sensor, which displays heat in an image, aboard a U.S. military aircraft operating in the Middle East. That assessment describes the video’s source, not the identity of the objects shown in it.
A Mark Crosses the Screen, and the Sensor Turns
After the blank segment, the first area passes across the screen and disappears. Later, the sensor changes its level of magnification several times. Another area appears near the bottom, then a different mark enters from the left.
As the sensor turns to track the second mark, the first leaves the frame. The camera is not simply recording the entire screen; it is directing the image toward the area it is tracking. But the video does not say why that particular mark was selected or what the tracking might reveal.
Marks Appear and Disappear
Near the end of the video, more areas that look different from their surroundings appear. They enter and leave the frame while the sensor remains focused on the second mark. The video runs for almost five minutes, and the official description gives only details about the image and the movements observed in it.
What Remains Unknown
It has not been determined what caused the marks or what they show. The official assessment does not identify them or offer a conventional explanation for what appears in the video.
The sensor stays trained on the second mark. What passed in front of it?
