Mysterious Light Spotted Over West Memphis: Report Describes Glowing Orb

What Happened On July 3, 2026, at around 10 a.m., a resident of West Memphis, Arkansas, spotted a glowing orb above a neighbor’s yard. The witness saw the light at an angle of about 45 degrees above the ground. It lasted only about five seconds. During that time, it appeared in the distance, moved closer, and rose until it reached the witness’s camera, then disappeared out of frame.

Background and Context Reports of glowing objects in the air are nothing new, but many are eventually attributed to natural phenomena or camera effects. In this case, the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC) lists the most likely explanation as “camera anomaly—possibly a reflection from a passing vehicle.” The light may have been caused by reflections from a vehicle passing near the camera, or perhaps by a drone with bright lights.

Why It’s Interesting The report stands out for several reasons: - Brief and uncomplicated — The event lasted only a few seconds, and no other witnesses are reported. - A precise account of the viewing conditions — The angle, duration, and location—a neighbor’s yard—make it possible to assess technical explanations more closely. - A possible camera effect — The “camera anomaly” explanation raises questions about how modern cameras can capture unexpected lights, especially under changing lighting conditions.

Bottom Line The report of a glowing orb in West Memphis is another account of unexplained lights seen around the world. NUFORC, however, points to a vehicle reflector or drone as possible explanations, so the report is not conclusive evidence of an unidentified object.
