What Happened
At 5:35 p.m. on May 7, 2026, a group of soldiers was parking its vehicles in the lot of a military facility in Troy, New York. While they were outside, the soldiers noticed unusual movement in the sky: two triangular objects, each about the size of a school bus and blue-gray in color, hovering 15 to 30 meters above the ground.
The objects appeared to be part of a single structure, except for a panel on the underside that opened to reveal a pattern of powerful laser beams. The beams formed a grid of squares across the ground and vehicles. Even in daylight, the witness could see the light flickering. The two triangles appeared to scan the area, one covering one half and the other the rest, as if conducting a precise survey.
After a few minutes, the objects turned north, their tips pointing in that direction, then shot upward at very high speed. The witness felt the flight was almost unreal. No sound was heard at any point during the incident.
The witness, a soldier with 16 years of service, said he had never experienced anything like it during his time in the military. He did not report the incident immediately because he was afraid. It is not known whether anyone else in the parking lot reported it.
Background and Context
Sightings of triangular objects are among the most common reports in databases of unidentified flying objects and unidentified anomalous phenomena (UFOs/UAP). Reports of laser beams or bright lights are also common and are sometimes associated with descriptions of scanning or scientific activity. There is no additional evidence about this incident, however: NUFORC’s investigation was unable to reach the witness for more details.
Why It’s Interesting
The report combines several elements that make it stand out: (1) two objects at once, (2) a large triangular configuration, (3) laser beams visibly forming a grid on the ground, and (4) high-speed movement without a sound. Together, these details describe a complex phenomenon that is not easy to explain and merits further investigation.
