Eyewitness Account: A Silver Cigar in the Sky
On the morning of July 1, 2026, around 5:30 a.m., a resident of Sutton-on-Sea, on the southern edge of England, saw an unusual object. According to the account, it was cigar-shaped and covered in a shiny, silver-like material. It appeared about 61 degrees above the horizon and traveled southeast.
The object was conspicuously large: “the size of an airplane without wings.” It looked broad and heavy, yet showed no sign of an engine and made no sound or smoke. Its estimated speed was between 15 and 20 miles per hour (about 24–32 km/h), giving it a slow, steady motion, almost as if it “wasn’t in a hurry to get anywhere.”
The object gleamed silver, lighting up the sky. Its sides appeared straight, almost as if straight “silver stripes” ran across it. Although the observer initially described its shape as cigar-like, they added that the object “lowered and had more of a top,” suggesting a three-dimensional structure rather than just a straight line.
The report was logged in the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC) database as an unexplained sighting. One possible explanation offered was an “airplane,” but the lack of wings, sound, and fuel combustion makes that conventional explanation unsatisfying. The account remains unverified and raises questions about phenomena or technologies not currently known to us.
Why Is This Interesting?
- The observer describes a sighting from the ground, with precise details about the angle, direction, and speed.
- The object’s color and smooth surface (shiny silver) are unlike those of ordinary aircraft.
- The absence of sound and wings puts the incident at the center of discussions about unexplained sightings.
The account shows the importance of documenting sightings precisely, even when we still have no clear answer about what we saw.
