What Happened
At 7:36 p.m. on May 6, 2026, a local observer reported seeing an unusual metallic object over the Spirit Lake area of Idaho. Familiar with the local skies because of a small airport about four miles away, the observer described the object as “a bagel with a donut on top”—a rounded, grooved structure with window-like panels and a pewter color, like a metal plate.
The observer saw the object from the ground while facing west, with their head tilted about 28 degrees upward. It moved north, or north-northwest, at an estimated 25 miles per hour—a speed comparable to that of an ordinary car and not especially fast for an aircraft.
A line of light was visible between the panels. On the underside, a dark slot held a series of faintly illuminated round lights. Some of the angular protrusions looked like the tails of narrow helicopters. The observer said the light from one panel was directed toward them, then the panel turned to face north as the object continued on its way.
Local Context
The area around Spirit Lake is known for frequent sightings of conventional aircraft because of the small airport nearby. The observer said they had seen very fast objects with their brother as a child, but those appeared only as points of light, not as metallic structures. This was the observer’s first encounter of its kind: a clearly defined structure with panels and lights, rather than a single light in the sky.
Why It’s Interesting
The report offers a detailed description of an unusually shaped object unlike conventional aircraft. Its metallic color, window-like panels, and angular protrusions suggest a craft unlike anything the observer had seen before. It could have been a modified balloon or an experimental structure, but without concrete evidence, its origin is difficult to determine.
Summary
The report is an unverified eyewitness account, but it provides precise details about the object’s appearance, movement, and duration (several minutes). So far, there is no clear video; the photos submitted by the observer are blurry. The incident adds another layer to the area’s map of sightings and reminds us that the skies remain full of mysteries.
