The Sighting
At 7:12 p.m. on April 9, 2005, a hunter staying at a hunting camp in Texas returned to his mobile home after a long day hunting wild hogs. The sky was clear, the sun was setting, and the western horizon was still bright. As he began to feel the heat and settle in for a rest, he noticed three “fuzzy” lights moving from the north-southwest. When he put on his glasses, a massive triangle came into view. It glided upward, passed over him, and nearly touched his home.
The witness, who carried a.243 Win Remington 700 rifle fitted with an advanced Leupold scope (4.5–14× magnification), made out details of the object through the lens. He estimated that the triangle was about 800 feet high and moving at roughly 30 miles per hour, suggesting a “hovering” motion rather than conventional flight. He estimated the structure’s dimensions at 60 feet wide, 80 feet long, and 10 feet thick at the rear, with a V-shaped front resembling the console of a speedboat.
As the western light began to fade, a pattern of ceramic tiles became visible on the triangle’s underside, similar to the tiles on the American space shuttle. One tile bore a white marking on a black background, with a red arrow pointing to a rectangular shape bearing the words “EMERGENCY RELEASE and RESCUE.” Other, blurred words appeared alongside them; the witness guessed they read “PULL FOR…”. The witness, an FAA-licensed pilot and physicist, got the impression that the object was a military aircraft rather than a “flying saucer.”
Why It’s Interesting
The report features several unusual elements:
- A large triangular shape with a V-shaped front, unlike the traditional forms of disks or fruit-shaped objects.
- A sighting through a rifle scope, which allowed for more detail than the naked eye.
- English-language markings on the object, including an emergency message, suggesting a military or emergency purpose.
- The witness was both a physicist and a licensed pilot, lending weight to his estimates of the object’s altitude, speed, and movement.
Even so, there are no other reports of a similar event in the area, and the account remains unverified. It offers a compelling picture of a possible sighting of an unusual aircraft, but further investigation is needed.
Summary
The report recounts the experience of a technically trained observer who describes a massive triangle bearing tiles, arrows, and emergency lettering. Despite the detailed account, the event remains among unverified reports.
