The Incident
At 2:50 a.m. on July 4, 2026, a local divorced man in New Waterford, Nova Scotia, had an unusual experience. According to the witness, he stepped outside and suddenly saw a dark gray, disk-shaped object estimated to be about 40 feet (about 12 meters) across.
The object hovered about 5 feet (about 1.5 meters) directly in front of him, angled upward at 45 degrees. Steady lights encircled the disc’s central axis, with no flickering or pulsing. Several “windows” were visible around its perimeter: transparent openings glowing brightly from within, suggesting an internal light source. The witness also saw a door-like window or open hatch that gave the craft the appearance of having a “door” at the front.
The object remained motionless for about three minutes. Then, without any sign of an engine or prior movement, it suddenly shot vertically into the sky at high speed, disappearing from the witness’s view within seconds. The witness reported no sound, vibration, or change in the surrounding light as it accelerated.
Background
The report was entered into the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC) database under case number 199254. Gray-disc sightings are considered “classic” in the study of unidentified phenomena, but most cases remain unverified and are not accompanied by physical evidence, such as photographs or videos. In this case, the witness says the object was very close, just five feet away, making details such as the windows and lights clearly visible.
Why Is This Interesting?
- Extreme proximity – At a distance of five feet, the witness might have been able to feel heat or hear noise from the object, but reported neither.
- Sudden acceleration – The lack of any visible propulsion before the object accelerated raises questions about possible technology.
- Detailed structural description – Windows, steady lights, and a “door” suggest deliberate design rather than a simple geometric shape.
Although unverified, the report adds another example to accounts of unidentified objects displaying features associated with advanced technology, and invites further investigation of local sightings.
