What Happened
At 12:10 a.m. on July 2, 2026, a Massapequa Park, New York, resident reported seeing a rounded, disk-shaped object pass over their home. The witness said it was white-yellow and about 60–200 meters above the ground, appearing roughly 30 degrees above the horizon.
The disk traveled at more than 150 km/h, following what appeared to be a short arc from west to east. It initially headed at 328° (northwest), then continued on a heading of 100° (east). A halo or light mist was visible around it, but it made no sound.
The witness described the light as steady: It did not brighten or go out during the half-second it was visible, and its circular shape remained unchanged.
Context and Significance
Reports of glowing disks are among the most common types of sightings in databases of unverified reports. They are sometimes logged alongside natural or ordinary phenomena such as balloons, aircraft, and atmospheric events. Still, the reported characteristics—high speed, no sound, and a halo around the object—make the sighting particularly intriguing.
The report was logged with NUFORC, an open database of eyewitness accounts, and has not yet been independently verified. No conclusions can be drawn without further verification.
Why Is This Interesting?
The report combines several features—white-yellow color, high speed, and a halo—that are not typical of an ordinary aircraft or balloon. The object's reported proximity to the witness's home, without making a sound, adds to the mystery of the case.
The account highlights the need for continued monitoring and careful documentation of such sightings, including video or photographic evidence, to support more thorough scientific investigation.
