What Happened
At 1:28 a.m. local time on July 11, 2026, a Liverpool resident stepped into his yard for a cigarette after midnight. He often watches the night sky and knows how to distinguish satellites from planes. Suddenly, he noticed a bright orange light moving silently right over his home. It appeared 85 degrees above the horizon, toward the north, at roughly the height of a plane, but without a clear path of motion.
The witness captured the sight on his phone: a 42-second video and several screenshots. The images show a metallic body surrounding the light. In some, a small silver sphere appears to hover beside the light, or to be part of the object itself. The light shifted slightly in color and was surrounded by a hazy halo. Although it moved at high speed, the witness said it was “not especially fast.”
There was no sound, and the light vanished in an instant, “in the blink of an eye.” No other reports came from the area at the time, and there is no record of any known aircraft operating there then.
The Broader Context
Reports of bright, unidentified lights at night are relatively common, especially in urban areas with air traffic and satellite flyovers. The metallic-looking light and the silver sphere described here, however, make the case more complex and raise questions about unfamiliar optical effects or technology.
Why It’s Interesting
- Brief duration — Just 42 seconds, making precise identification difficult.
- Visual features — A metallic halo, a change in color, and a hovering silver sphere.
- No sound — A silent phenomenon, unlike ordinary aircraft.
- Video evidence — Visual material is available for technical examination.
Despite the lack of further information, the case adds another point to the map of unexplained aerial phenomena.
