What Happened
At 11 p.m. on July 9, 2026, a local observer in Live Oak, Florida, spotted an unusual phenomenon in the sky. The observer described a circular object emitting a bright blue-green light, so intense that it made other details difficult to see. The object was at an unknown distance but appeared to approach and dart away at unusual speed. Its movements seemed to include sudden jumps, abrupt changes in direction, and shifts to different parts of the sky.
The observer said the object remained at an apparent elevation of about 35° above the horizon, toward the southwest (235°). For 30–40 minutes, the light shifted between white, blue, and green, sometimes surrounded by a thin halo resembling light mist. After moving slowly west for several minutes, the light jumped again and began tracing short circles. Then it grew still, and the object disappeared into the sky.
Two other witnesses, watching from about 15 miles away with a mobile phone, reported seeing the light at the same time, lending support to the sighting. Both described it as a “spark” that appeared, dimmed, and returned, flickering through different colors.
Context and Possible Explanations
Reports of colored lights in the sky are not uncommon in UFO databases. They are sometimes linked to atmospheric phenomena such as radiation bursts, aircraft radar, or plasma in the atmosphere. The rapid color changes and unusual speed do not seem consistent with known natural sources, but without physical evidence, such as photographs or measurements, it is difficult to determine what caused the light.
Why It’s Interesting
The report stands out for several features:
- A bright blue-green light in the sky, surrounded by a thin halo.
- Fast, unpredictable movement, including sudden changes in direction.
- Two witnesses observing from 15 miles away, extending the area from which the phenomenon was seen.
It is not known whether the sighting is connected to areas with aviation or military activity, leaving it open to interpretation. So far, no similar phenomenon has been documented in the same area, adding to the mystery.
