Incident Description
At 9:30 p.m. on July 4, 2026, a Levittown, New York, resident watching the sky saw a green light illuminating the horizon. According to the witness, the orb appeared beneath the cloud layer, and its light flashed steadily.
The witness says the light appeared and hovered in place before accelerating diagonally across the sky, moving from side to side while also rising and falling at an angle of about 45 degrees. Over the course of 15 minutes, it appeared to approach and recede, move at very high speed, and sometimes descend toward the ground before vanishing abruptly. A few seconds later, it would reappear overhead, only to vanish again.
The witness notes that the light was green and flashed conspicuously. The object remained beneath the clouds, making it clearly visible. At times it moved slowly; at others, it traveled at very high speed, making it seem like a sophisticated object or one powered by a powerful engine.
Context and Assessment
The report was logged in the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC) database, which collects unverified reports of aerial sightings. No additional information about measuring equipment or video footage is available, leaving only the witness's account. A drone has been suggested as a possible explanation, but the object's rapid movements and repeated disappearances and reappearances do not fit the usual profile of an unmanned aircraft.
Why Is This Interesting?
Several factors make the report notable: 1) the flashing green color, which is rare for conventional aircraft; 2) the unpredictable movement, with changes in speed and direction over a short period; and 3) the 15-minute duration, which gave the witness time to follow the object's changing behavior. Still, there is no physical evidence, so the event remains an unverified sighting.
