The Sighting
At 8:20 p.m. on August 19, 2013, a local resident was standing in his yard, talking on the phone with a friend, when he noticed a glowing light descending over a field about five kilometers from his home. At first, he assumed it was a commercial airplane or helicopter. But it soon became clear that it had no visible wheels.
The object appeared to be a long, metallic cylinder, about 150 feet (≈45 meters) tall and seemingly heavy. Three bright triangular lights marked its front: a red triangle in the center, flanked by two white triangles. The distance between the triangles’ vertices was about 50 feet (≈15 meters), making the full configuration about 150 feet (≈45 meters) across.
The cylinder rose to an altitude of 500–1,000 feet (≈150–300 meters) and continued flying at high speed. The observer heard a loud, strained sound, like the whine of a jet fighter engine or a fast-moving helicopter. He said it differed from the usual chop of rotors, though it was not especially loud.
As the object passed in front of him, the observer tried to capture it on camera, but it moved too quickly. Instead, he called the local police department’s Central Dispatch and reported what he had seen. No other testimony or visual documentation was obtained.
Context and Significance
The report describes an object with a cylindrical shape, an unusual pattern of lights, and a distinctive sound—features that invite comparison with previous reports of unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP). Triangular light patterns, especially a red triangle paired with two white ones, have been recorded in other sightings and are sometimes considered signs of advanced technology or rare atmospheric phenomena.
The observer’s real-time account, recorded in the NUFORC database, lends weight to the report, though it remains unverified: no photographs were taken, and no other witnesses were reported. There is also no evidence from radio stations, radar, or security cameras in the area that could confirm or rule out the sighting.
Why It’s Interesting
The report describes a light pattern unlike those typically associated with known aircraft, along with the sound of a powerful engine but no rotors. At the same time, it highlights the limits of eyewitness accounts: there is no documentation and no independent testimony. The sighting should therefore be treated as an open case that requires further examination before any conclusions can be drawn.
