Description of the Event On July 9, 2026, at 5:00 a.m., a Fort Wayne, Indiana, resident reported an unusual sighting in their backyard. The witness said they saw a spherical white light, or orb, several miles away, moving at an angle of about 45 degrees toward the southwest. The light was bright, surrounded by a halo of mist or glow. After a few seconds, the white orb suddenly split into three smaller objects, which formed a triangle before disappearing. No sounds were heard during the event, apart from the home's air conditioner and nearby birds.

A Brief Background Reports of “orb” lights are common in the NUFORC database. They are sometimes described as nearby aircraft, balloons, or natural lights in the atmosphere. However, the object's halo and its division into three parts make this sighting notably different from more typical reports.

Why Is This Sighting Interesting? - Unusual Shape: Beyond the standard white orb, the formation of a triangle is a rare feature. - Short Duration: The event lasted only about five minutes, making it difficult to gather additional accounts. - No Sound: Although the light was conspicuous, no engine or wind sounds were recorded, raising questions about its source.

Summary The report is an unverified eyewitness account and should be treated with caution. Still, it adds another entry to the database of unexplained lights seen in the United States and invites further investigation of similar phenomena in the area.
