A Silver Disc Appears Over Fort Myers for One Minute

What Happened At 2:30 p.m. on January 4, 2004, a disc-shaped object was spotted above McGregor and Summerlin streets in Fort Myers, Florida. The witness, who had a technical background and experience testifying as an expert in court, described it as a “silver disc” rotating in the air at an altitude of 3,000–5,000 feet and measuring about 30 feet across (roughly 9–10 meters). He emphasized that the object had a smooth surface that reflected sunlight. As it tilted, its underside appeared shadowed, while the top was shiny and had a slight, broad bulge.

What the Witness Saw The witness described the object as “solid,” not a weather balloon. He saw no wires, radiosonde package, or parachute. It moved somewhat like a balloon, swaying, rising, and descending without any apparent control. The witness said the object was very clear, sharply defined, and large enough to appear the size of the full moon.

The Local Context The object appeared a few hundred meters above major roads and was near two airports, Page Field and Southwest Florida International Airport. No aircraft activity was reported at the time. To the witness, it appeared to be a sturdy structure, not an advertising prop or giant balloon.

Why the Report Is Interesting The report was reviewed by NUFORC, which noted that the witnesses were considered professionals and that the information provided was credible. The witness said known objects such as weather balloons and advertising balloons did not match the description, leaving the event unexplained. Although the report has not been verified, it offers a precise technical description of a flat, metallic object moving lightly and without coordination, adding to the ongoing discussion of unidentified aerial phenomena.

Summary This eyewitness report describes a sizable silver disc that appeared relatively low above the ground and moved lightly without any apparent control. NUFORC considered the report credible, but with no external corroboration, the sighting remains unverified.
