Three Glinting Lights 30 Miles Away: A Sighting Over Alabama

What Happened At 11:50 p.m. local time on a hot summer evening, a man sat on the porch of his home in Enterprise, Alabama, looking north. Suddenly, he spotted a bright light moving from west to east about 30° above the horizon. It vanished for an instant, apparently behind a cloud, then reappeared moments later and turned northeast.

Moving in Formation After the first light reappeared, a second began following it. The two made a coordinated maneuver, turning roughly 360° to the left in parallel. With no warning signals or flashing lights, their movement was smooth, almost like a dance of lights in the sky. About a minute later, a third light joined them. The three continued changing direction, disappearing and reappearing at regular intervals. The sighting lasted about 10–15 minutes. The objects appeared to be about 30 miles from the observer, at an altitude comparable to that of small aircraft, if not higher.

Context and Significance The report was entered in the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC) database under case number 198597. Weather information for that time is unavailable, but the objects were reportedly seen without navigation lights while making precise, coordinated movements, raising questions about the nature of the phenomenon. Was it advanced technology, a military exercise, or a rare natural phenomenon? The eyewitness account has not been verified, so the objects’ origin cannot be determined with certainty.

Why It’s Interesting The most striking feature of the sighting is the objects’ formation: three light sources circling one another, moving closer together and farther apart, with no sign of marker or navigation lights. Their sustained, regular movement over 10–15 minutes also suggests deliberate control rather than the random path of an aircraft or shooting star. If confirmed, sightings like this could broaden our understanding of unidentified aerial phenomena.
