What Happened
At 11:15 p.m. on July 1, 2026, two travelers heading south on Highway 105 near Ear Falls, Ontario, spotted a bright orange light on the horizon. As they drew to within about 100–200 meters, they could make out its shape: a broad ring or disk glowing bright orange. The light was intense, forming a thin halo around the object and illuminating the tree line below.
The object appeared to hover about 15–20 meters above the tree line without moving. For about two minutes, the light remained at a steady intensity. They could see its beam spreading light around it, even when the first rise of a hill partly obscured the object. As the travelers continued down three consecutive hills, it disappeared, leaving only its glow in the sky.
The witness described the sight as “a giant orange crown, shaped like a ring, casting light around it and illuminating the forest below.” The witness also said the light prompted a reaction from local wildlife, but did not specify which animals.
Context and Analysis
Reports of objects glowing in unusual colors are not new to the NUFORC database, but cases with detailed descriptions of size, location, and altitude are valuable to researchers. In this case, the estimated size of the object—at least 12–15 meters across—and the steady brightness of its light suggest something unlike a laser or an ordinary car headlight. The fact that the light lasted several minutes without changing significantly also points to a source capable of producing continuous light in open space.
Why Is This Interesting?
- Impressive size: An estimated width of at least 12–15 meters is considerable, especially given the distance of about 600 yards (roughly 550 meters) from the witness.
- Halo around the object: The description of “light around it” points to an unusual physical phenomenon, perhaps plasma or another optical process.
- Effect on wildlife: The animals’ reaction could indicate a change in the light spectrum or frequencies beyond the range of human vision.
- Duration: Several minutes of steady light pose a challenge to simple explanations based on natural phenomena.
Still, there is no video, photograph, or other independent evidence, so the event remains an unverified eyewitness account.
