Green-and-Red Egg-Shaped Light Over Coeur d’Alene

What Happened At 2:39 a.m. on May 9, 2026, a Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, resident had an unusual experience. At first, the resident thought the light in the sky was a shooting star. Within seconds, though, a distinct shape emerged: a domed top and an oval base, glowing bright green with flashes of red. The shape became clearer as the light began to blink rhythmically, as if each light were operating independently.

The object moved from west to east while making a gentle C-shaped turn that seemed to curve toward a loop. After a few seconds, the light resumed a straight path, reached an elevation angle of about 80 degrees above the horizon, then vanished abruptly, as if disappearing into an unknown distance.

Environmental Effects As the object approached, the temperature reportedly dropped suddenly, and the witness’s dog reacted unusually: it became frightened and began behaving rigidly. The witness also reported electrical or magnetic effects, such as household circuit breakers tripping. When the light was nearby, the witness’s camera went black, making it difficult to document the event visually.

Context and Documentation The report was logged in the NUFORC database under case number 197586 and is considered an unverified eyewitness report. No video was recorded, but the witness described a feeling of “lost time”—the sense that time passed faster than usual while the object was visible.

Why Is This Interesting? The oval shape and green-and-red colors, combined with complex movements and precise curves, suggest a phenomenon unlike known natural sources such as meteors or balloons. The reported effects on temperature and animals, along with electrical phenomena in some accounts, add to the mystery and invite further investigation.

Summary The incident highlights the importance of collecting local eyewitness accounts, including records of weather conditions, personal experiences, and environmental effects. Although there is no conclusive scientific evidence, sightings like this keep the door open to further investigation and remind us that there is still much to learn about unexplained aerial phenomena.
