Cigar-Shaped Object Spotted Several Kilometers Above a Field in Cedarcreek, Missouri

What Happened On June 6, 2016, at around 10:30 a.m., beneath clear blue skies, a Cedarcreek, Missouri, resident witnessed something strange from their garden. For about five minutes, a long, pointed, cigar-shaped object passed over their property. It was silver-gray, completely smooth, and had no visible wings. It seemed to float through the air without any apparent engine.

Visual Features - Shape – A long, narrow body with tapered ends and no visible wings or attachments. - Light – Although the object was silver-gray, the witness said they saw a “diffuse glow” that did not come from reflected sunlight, but seemed more like an internal glow, as if the object were backlit despite there being no clear light source. - Halo – A dark halo surrounded the object, like a corona around a full moon, but so faint that it was nearly invisible to anyone not looking directly at the object. - Shadow – A faint gray line appeared to trail along two-thirds of the object’s front section. - Sound – No sound was reported, not even a hint of engine noise.

Movement and Distance The witness described the object as being at a high altitude. When they extended an arm and held a finger up toward it, one finger’s width was enough to cover the object, suggesting it was several thousand feet up. It traveled from southeast to northwest and remained visible until it disappeared from view.

Context: Why Is This Interesting? The report describes something unlike many sightings of unidentified aircraft: there was no sign of an engine, wings, or contrail. The apparent internal glow and surrounding halo add another layer of mystery, making an ordinary explanation, such as a balloon, a test aircraft, or an optical phenomenon, harder to pin down.

Report Credibility The account comes from a single eyewitness, with no video or photographic evidence, and was documented only months after the event. Still, the witness provided specific details about the time, location, and appearance, and noted the lack of sound or changes in appearance, giving the report a moderate level of credibility.

--- The report is listed in the NUFORC database as case 127734 and has not been verified by other sources.
