Incident Description
On May 5, 2026, at 9:05 p.m., a Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, resident was returning from their apartment to the building’s lobby when they noticed a round light illuminating the sky. It was green at first, then turned blue a few moments later, and occasionally red. The colors changed every few seconds, like a car’s flashing lights.
The witness described the light as round, with no clearly discernible shape. They shifted their gaze slightly toward the southeast, where the light appeared about 30 degrees above the horizon. Based on rough estimates, it was about 1,000 feet (300 meters) away. The light hovered at that distance over a small hill, dipped slightly, then returned to its original height before disappearing completely.
Context and Possible Explanation
The report was logged with the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC) as “Light,” a sighting of an unidentified light. The witness said it might have been a drone, but could not confirm that: the light was brighter than one would expect from an ordinary drone, and its colors changed in a way that is not typical of commercial drones.
The witness said the light was visible to the naked eye from the ground, with no other objects approaching it, and remained visible for about six minutes, a significant duration for an event of this kind.
Why the Report Is Interesting
The report stands out for several reasons. First, color changes from green to blue to red are unusual in sightings of ordinary drones and could point to different technology or a rare natural phenomenon, such as atmospheric effects that alter a light beam. Second, the light’s return to its original height after dipping slightly suggests deliberate movement rather than a stationary phenomenon. Finally, reports like this add to the record of unidentified sightings and allow researchers to look for patterns shared with similar events elsewhere.
