The story
Living cartoons

Chapter 1
Living cartoons
Picture a cartoon come to life. The Dila are thin and stretchy, with no face at all. They come in bright reds, yellows and blues, and they're always zipping around.
Chapter 2
A world made to order
Their world is a perfectly smooth ball. No hills, no rivers, nothing at all. When the Dila need something, they simply pull it up out of the surface, like clay.
Chapter 3
The planet is everyone
And that smooth ball? It's the shared mind of their whole civilization, made of the same stretchy stuff as they are. The Dila can melt right into it.
Chapter 4
Humor for export
Their top export is a sense of humor. Not jokes, though. Stand in their energy and you'd feel giddy and light, as if everything were worth laughing at.
“Everything feels worth laughing at.”
Chapter 5
The thrill of changing
Why so cheerful? They never stop changing, becoming this, then that, and they love the thrill of every change. That rush of laughter is what holds them together.
Chapter 6
Their cousins on Earth
Who on Earth is most like the Dila? Dolphins, who blend with the sea they live in. And some Zen masters, who know that wisdom loves a light heart.
