What we know about them
Merpeople
Mermaids are real, sort of. Some were short-lived Atlantean experiments. Others swim in a reality next door.
- No group of early humans moved into the sea, "in the way that you mean it".
- In Atlantean times, gene experiments made a few human-animal hybrids. They lasted only a short while.
- The same engineering gave Greek myth its satyrs and mermaids.
- Lots of merpeople live in a reality right next to ours. They're solid there, not here.
- Sometimes they cross into our world through portals.
- On another level, merpeople are nature spirits.
